I have been a painter all my adult life, I live in Sheffield, Yorkshire in the UK.
I have also taught Art to University students and the general public for most of this time.
I would not exactly describe myself as a landscape painter but maybe a painter of Engineering & Architecture in a landscape, usually on the coastline. It is not especially the sea that fascinates me but the structures that have evolved out of the human activity and man’s connection with the sea.
In 2005 I worked from the coastal structures in San Francisco which was the start of my ‘Littoral Structures’ body of work.
I started the UK Coastal Tour in 2010 and have pretty much been working on it since then, it is probably a life time project. I usually spend a few weeks a year traveling to areas of the coast collecting visual information and working from it back in the studio for the rest of the year.
I exhibit at locations around the country specific to the area of coastline the paintings are inspired by.
