New Works: Summer Exhibition 2023
Nature and the countryside have always been an inspiration to me,…
Nature and the countryside have always been an inspiration to me, a place for calm, peace and reflection. Nature always has the answers in the quiet. It doesn’t matter what the season there is always something to admire. I love the way nature is perfect and imperfect at the same time. I embrace the changes of the seasons because there is always more to offer and a never ending supply of inspiration whether that is a viewpoint or composition that catches my eye or a tree , plant or bright coloured sky.
I studied at A level Art and fell in love with the impressionists like Van Gogh and Monet. I love the use of colour which reflects in my work creating vibrant, bright, uplifting paintings of the Wiltshire countryside. I continued to paint and teach myself palette knife, creating texture and use of thick paint.
In recent years I have been inspired by artists Hurvin Anderson with his incredible trees and use of colour. Also Lucy Davies with her wonderful compositions and bright scenes.
