Gua Rurua

I like to use inscriptions in my art using original Georgian language, as well as other languages. Gia Rurua – Born Georgia 1961

In 1983 I began my career as a decorative monument artist and subsequently gained many quality commissions. I have participated in some very impressive projects as co – author of mural paintings, later I started paintings on canvas and wood board.

I like to use some inscriptions in my art using original Georgian language, as well as other languages. This is part of the inspiration of using mixed media which for me develops my paintings from flat open surfaces to what they are, textured storyboards with the suggestion of inscriptions without over complicating the painting.

The main subject of my paintings is inspired by Georgian fairy-tales, Bible stories and Oriental motives. My favorite heroes and personages are very much in my imagination. The Human aspect and immortal spirit are always of great interest to me as an artist.
