IAN RAWNSLEY

The sea is ever present in my life…

Living on the Ayrshire coast, I am a painter exploring seascape and landscape in both abstract and representational forms. Working predominately in oil I am looking to capture the energy and the drama of the coast and the open sea. I look to explore the emotional pull of colour and texture to bring the sea alive.I also endeavour to bring this energy to my figurative and purely abstract work. I look to produce, and express a deep inner celtic identity through my creative work in all its forms.

Currently based in Troon on the Ayrshire coast the pull of the sea is ever present in my life and having spent three years on the Irish coast it’s never far from my mind and is an ever present element to my artwork.

Like many artists before, the western shores of Cornwall’s Big Skies or the Hebridean isles, Scotland’s East coast, or the shores of Donegal in NW Ireland continue to cast their spell.

Influences are as far wide as the artist, Turner , Joan Eardley , Whistler and GF Watts.

Rawnsley’s work is extensively exhibited in galleries across the British Isles and is held in private collection across Europe, Australia and North America.
