Filling a blank canvas with energy is exhilarating! Local artist Irene Colquhoun’s paintings are both refreshing and energetic.
Whilst studying Fine Art, it became apparent to Irene that the painting of Contemporary Figures was in fact her forte. Her development of movement began in the late 90’s when she exhibited in London at the Mall Galleries. After receiving a commission to create an artwork of an Olympic frenzy over Stonehenge, she became determined to investigate movement further.
As an artist, Irene has always drawn and painted, preferring acrylic as her chosen medium. Her studio is her happy place; filled with materials, sketches, designs and memories. Irene’s latest work is a progression on movement with dance as the theme, where the power of form, negative space, line and creativeness are her strengths.
