TREES- their shapes defining their species…

Trees have fascinated me since childhood: trees to be climbed, trees to hide in, dens under trees and trees silhouetted in darkness, trees as givers of fruit. There was one very special oak with a hole through its trunk, perfect for climbing up with a sitting area beyond, where a huge branch had fallen away giving a view across the landscape for miles.

Now, as a painter, I am intrigued by the structure of trees , their shapes defining their species and the direction of the prevailing wind. Trees bring scale to the landscape, forever acting as indicators of the seasons and reflectors of the ever changing light.
