LUCY DE ROEPER
British Artist based between Wiltshire & London
Lucy de Roeper is a British-born artist whose practice draws deeply from the natural world, working between memory, observation, and imagination. Her work pushes painting towards abstraction through an intuitive and process-driven approach. Using unconventional materials such as beeswax and sand, Lucy creates textured, atmospheric pieces that capture the spirit of place. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at City & Guilds of London Art School, further developing her vibrant, landscape-inspired practice.
“It is in the painting process itself when I feel most alive. Making art allows me to explore boundaries of perception and responsiveness. Paint, colour and material are my fundamental language when creating atmosphere and the state of mind of a piece.”
Lucy’s paintings explore the spiritual and physical act of painting, using vivid colour, expressive mark making, and experimental techniques such as dragging paint with cloths, scratching canvas surfaces, or attaching brushes to long sticks. Her work is deeply rooted in nature and personal connection, with repeated references to landscapes in Wiltshire, Cornwall, the Lake District, and Portugal.
