Elizabeth Chalmers

Elizabeth Chalmers – Born 1939- 2011

Elizabeth began her career as an illustrator on the Belfast Telegraph as well as teaching art history. In 1964 she moved to Cornwall where she developed a natural talent for pen and ink drawings of traditional buildings, and a love of the countryside. Her family later moved to Berkshire where she concentrated on water colour paintings of buildings and landscapes.

Elizabeth later moved to the Cotswolds where many of her watercolour paintings are depicted and had also taken opportunities to paint in France, Greece, Italy and South Africa, as well as in her native Ireland.

Elizabeth’s work has appeared on calendars, prints, greetings cards, table mats and book illustrations and is still collected all over the world particularly in the U.S.A.
