James Leggat – Born 1959
Leggat was born in Scotland and his artistic talents flourished early- His unique style is memorable for its distinctive abstract style incorporating a cubist slant.
Leggat works mainly in oil. The figure is an important part in the narrative of most of the paintings – but the degree of which abstraction takes over varies. Sometimes they even develop quite far into realism but are most successful when, unknown to the artist, they develop an abstract uncertainty which always throws up surprises time and again through looking at the work
He was accepted to join Glasgow School of Art one of the UK’s leading Art Schools. In his final year he was one of the most sought after students of that year.
Leggat has had regular exhibitions in London, Scotland, USA and other parts of Europe and tends to work on a series of paintings incorporating life in abstraction.
His work is sought by major collectors world – wide.
