Keith Johnson- Born 1942 England
Keith Johnson has exhibited constantly in the UK for more than twenty forty years and has a large following.
Johnson studied Art at Stafford College of Arts, but subsequently developed a career as a commercial designer, gaining an international reputation in his field and later serving as a director of various commercial enterprises. His leisure pursuits during this time included the painting of watercolours.
A love of nature and a skill in interpreting the environment led him to change his previous career and concentrate on painting professionally.
Johnson’s technique is representational, as he evokes the tone, atmosphere and physical properties of his subject. The subtle, sensitive gradation of tone and a well-structured composition, together with an awareness of light, colour and aerial atmosphere give his paintings a timeless, special quality.
Johnson’s work, which has covered a wide variety of subject matter, has featured in numerous exhibitions throughout Great Britain, depicting his favourite subjects, in particular the continuously changing beauty of the Lake District. His work is widely collected both in the UK and around the world.
