Eileen Greenwood Etchings

Eileen Greenwood was a full-time printmaker specialising in etchings and aquatint. Many images are hand coloured.

Greenwood studied at the Royal Collage of Art, Courtaulds Institute and Goldsmiths Collage.

She has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout the UK and overseas and her work is represented in several private collections in Gt Britain, America, and Australia. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painters and etchers.

The subject matter reflected the artist’s main interest outside her studio, with foreign travel she captured in each design some of the essential characteristics of a place visited through the use of architectural shapes and their associated details. In a high proportion (but not all) cats are introduced as a supporting theme to provide a gentle quirk of humour.

Eileen continued to paint until she was 99 and used to try and grapple with a computer, not wanting to be seen as a luddite…
