I was originally attracted by drawing and narrative, but later became interested in paint. I carried on painting figure compositions, portraits and illustrations, selling some and exhibiting a portrait at the BP Portrait Awards at the National Portrait Gallery London. Read more –>

Steve Sharples – BA – Born 1965 UK

I later attended Falmouth School of Art to study illustration, and I am currently studying graphic design at Swindon Art School. I have sketched the Wiltshire landscape over a number of years and have recently become interested in painting landscape more seriously. I am influenced by the French impressionists and especially the Scottish colourists. Originally, I was more interested by tonal values in paint, but now I am more taken by the sometimes very strong colours in the west of England landscape which I convey in my work. My recent paintings is of the Devon & Cornish coastline.
